Transforming Learning and Talent Management at Altria

LearningManufacturing
Educe partnered with Altria to successfully transform their learning and talent management business processes and technology.

Client

Altria is a Fortune 200 company with more than 6,200 employees in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry. Primarily focused on tobacco, nicotine, and reduced risk products for adult consumers, Altria’s companies – which have been the undisputed market leaders in the U.S. tobacco industry for decades – include some of the most enduring names in American business.

Altria’s Transformation Journey

When first introduced to Educe in 2018, Altria was managing two different Learning Management Systems (LMS). The Company was interested in consolidating these systems and expanding the platform’s footprint to additional stakeholder groups. Additionally, Altria wanted to ensure that their LMS was validated.

The Educe team led Altria through a gap analysis workshop to identify the business needs of the new employee groups, map existing configurations and functionality, and identify gaps and solutions to meet the business requirements. The Educe team then provided system configuration, technical integration, and validation work to consolidate the systems.

We weren’t just paying for the completion of tasks or transactions. What we were getting with Educe were true partners that brought strategy, problem solving, and best in class expertise to the table.”

Following this initial phase of work, Educe continued to partner with Altria to achieve its vision for utilizing the system to support its performance and succession strategy. Through a series of Business Process Alignment Workshops, Educe developed an HR technology strategy and roadmap for the adoption and rollout of performance and succession functionality, which included a custom microapp solution.

Educe provided outsourced administration for the resulting platform, serving as an ongoing extension of the Altria team for more than seven years. At that time Altria made the decision to migrate to a new vendor platform. Educe leveraged its deep institutional, system, and business process knowledge, to ensure Altria was successful in making a seamless transition to the new platform.

The ability for Educe to operate autonomously, while keeping us up to date on the things they’ve been doing, has brought a lot of efficiency to the way that we work.”
