Quick Tips for Business Travelers: Phoenix
As consultants, we’re always excited when business travel takes us somewhere sunny and warm. Phoenix, AZ is a favorite for this reason, particularly in the winter and early spring when East Coast temperatures are hovering around the 30’s and 40’s! Since a few members of our team are headed to Phoenix next week, we thought we would highlight a few things to check out when you are in the area:
Food and Drink:
Chelsea’s Kitchen: This restaurant is right on the canal and has a beautiful patio for al fresco dining. The southwestern American food is fresh and there are some great healthy options, which is always welcome when you’re traveling.
Four Peaks Brewery: This brewery is located just outside of Phoenix in Tempe, AZ. It is a local favorite for the food, the ambiance, and of course, the beer!
Barrio Café: You can’t visit the southwest without getting some authentic Mexican food. Barrio Café was featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives”, so it was somewhere we had to check out. If it is good enough for Guy Fieri, it’s good enough for Educe!
Desert Botanical Garden: This botanical garden is a must-see in the Phoenix area, especially for those who have never spent much time in the southwest. You’ll have the option to take a tour, or just walk along the various trails on your own. Check the website before planning your visit, as they have lots of special events throughout the year.
The Rosson House Museum: This 1895 home has been fully restored and staged to look just as it would have during its prime. They offer hour-long tours that explore some of the history of the Phoenix area and life in the desert before the invention of air conditioning.
Camelback Mountain: Arizona is known for its unique landscape and one of the best ways to see the Phoenix area is by hiking Camelback Mountain. Summer is not the best time to attempt the hike due to the heat, but as long as you take water and go early, you should be okay. There are two different trails hikers can take up the mountain: One that is a shorter distance but a steeper hike, and Cholla, which is a longer distance, but less steep.
If you like to golf, head east to Scottsdale, AZ, which boasts multiple award winning public golf courses including Troon North Golf Club. Not a golfer? No problem. Scottsdale’s newest resort, the Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa opened up in 2017 and it is at the top of our list to check out the next time we need some R&R after a long work week in Phoenix.
